THE BIRTH

The Little Capoeira Museum is a projection of love, respect and admiration for the art of Capoeira. Literally born from Master Vaguinho's hands, the museum consists of four sections (Slavery, Brazil, Masters and Capoeira of San Jose). The museum also displays antique pieces and memorabilia related to Capoeira and slavery.

Created by Master Vaguinho, a self taught artist and accomplished Capoeira Master, the sculptures came to life bringing out a unique sense of emotion while capturing, with rare sensitivity, the beauty and poetry of a Capoeira game. The Little Capoeira Museum is small in size but incredibly big in its' respect for the art of Capoeira and for the preservation of its' ethnicity and cultural value. The Little Capoeira Museum is a homage to both Capoeira and Capoeristas.

The little Capoeira Museum is located in the Capoeira of San Jose Academy (1042 Park Ave. San Jose Ca. U.S.A.). The museum is open daily to visitors, during class hours , free of charge.

The Little Capoeira was inaugurated in September of 1997, following an incredible Capoeira roda where many Masters and students had shown the perfect formula (FUN + RESPECT + ENTHUSIASM = AXÉ) for a great Capoeira roda.

THE INAUGURATION

The honor of inaugurating the museum was given to Master Gladson De Oliveira Silva. Included in the ceremony were special guests; Master Brasilia and Anete, Master Marcelo (Caveirinha), Master Cuenca and Policenter Director and good friend, Vinicius.

For all Capoeira lovers and practioners, The Little Capoeira Museum is definitely a MUST SEE!
