PLANTING THE SEED

The Little Capoeira Museum came about when a highschool student, Gilbert, made a small sculpture in art class. The student, being proud of the accomplishment brought the crude clay sculpture, of a Capoeirista, to class one night. Even though the sculpture was not a piece of fine art, Wagner thought to himself... "Hopefully he'll give it to me!" Being obsessed with collecting Capoeira memorabilia, Wagner continued waiting in anticipation for him to present it as a gift. That never happened. The student just smiled and ran out the door. Wagner was disappointed! Weeks passed and he still thought about that sculpture. Then one night, it hit him! "I'll make my own!" The next day, Wagner went to the store, bought some supplies and returned. He locked himself in the garage to start his work!

AND HE'S OFF!

Wagner worked diligently on his first piece! After hours of work and several different discoveries, about the medium, he was finally done! From that day on, Wagner refined his skills and produced piece...

after piece...

after piece!

WHAT TO DO NOW?

At this point, Wagner could never have imagined that he would spend all his free time, for the next year, producing what is now a priceless contribution to Capoeira. A dilemma now appeared! One day while taking a finished piece in to his house, Wagner looked around and sculptures were everywhere. His house was filled with his creations! As visitors and friends would discover the artwork, they felt it was important to display them for all to enjoy. Then it hit him, "I could display them at the academy!" So a small extra room became the new setting for his artistic focus, over the next year! And so it came to be... "The Little Capoeira Museum" was born!
